NIOBIUM
CBMM and SOJITZ GROUP has a long and good relationship (more than 20 years).
In September 2011 it was formed a Japanese-Korean consortium: Nippon Steel, JFE Steel, Sojitz, Japan Oil, Gas and Metals National Corp, Posco e National Pension Service-NPS, who has 15% shareholding at CBMM. Chinese consortium has other 15% stake as well, and remaining shares belong to original full owner Moreira Salles family (now they have 70% shares).
We play the role of distributor of their Niobium products to the Japanese market of FeNb, plus other Nb products like FeNb vacuum grade, NiNb alloy, Nb oxide, among others.
CBMM is the largest mine of Pyrochlore Ore (niobium) in operation in the world.
=> Mine: open pit (outsourced mining operation).
Production of Niobium is concentrate in Brazil.
Sojitz Rio de Janeiro is CBMM’s official distributor for the product Ferro Niobium
in South America since 2003 (except Brazi).
METALLIC SILICON
Trading & Marketing of Metallic Silicon) from Brazil to Asian Market.
=> Raw material with larger application in several segments like chemical industry (silicon and light oils), metallurgic industry, photovoltaic industry (solar cells) and semiconductor industry (computer chips, diode, processors and high-performance electronic components).
RARE EARTH PRODUCTS
Project in progress with CBMM.
Others
Special alloys which are incorporated during the steel production. Properties: grant hardness to steel, avoid corrosion.
